Welcome to EDO Salon, where fashion, design and art come together in San Francisco’s vibrant Lower Haight district. Equal parts boutique hair salon and speakeasy gallery space, the salon is here to celebrate your special and personal style.
Wrapped around the corner of Haight and Steiner, our little gem of a salon is effortlessly chic and washed in light. We’re all about lightening our impact on the planet too, bringing you pure, organic hair care lines by Davines and EVO. You’ll also find a selection of eclectic gifts, so pop in to stock up or find something for a lucky friend.
Hair styling is an art, and we love to surround ourselves with creativity. In the salon, we’ve featured art exhibits with fiberglass boats hanging from the ceiling, feathers in plastic boxes, a light-up blown glass installation, silk screened textiles, and countless group shows of painters, photographers and collage artists. EDO Salon is the brainchild of Jayne Matthews and Chri Longstreet, best friends, cohorts, and flamboyant ladies about town. In 1998, their shared creative vision began in a vacant Baptist church in the colorful and emerging Lower Haight district. They saw the potential for a mecca of inspired hair & art that was a springboard for street fashion and community. Years later, EDO Salon has become one of the salons that supports and supplies style, art and the next-level to trend-setters and timeless denizens of classic cool.
The new EDO
In 2015, in conjunction with a major remodel of the salon, Chri and Jayne decided to make a clean sweep and update everything. Still noted for a super-personalized natural style of cutting, now EDO is an independent salon with a full line of organic hair color and hair care products.
